Caleb McLaughlin has become Marvel Studios’ Miles Morales in brilliant MCU fan art that introduces the variant Spider-Man into live-action for the first time. Miles Morales first appeared in Marvel Comics’ Ultimate Fallout #4 in 2011 as the Ultimate Universe’s Spider-Man, taking over from Peter Parker following his death. In Marvel’s 2015 Secret Wars event, Miles Morales joined Marvel Comics’ main continuity, and since then, the character has been adapted into Sony’s animated Spider-Verse franchise, voiced by Shameik Moore. With Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars on the horizon, there is speculation that Miles Morales will soon be joining the MCU.
While there have been rumors of Miles Morales’ MCU debut since 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming featured Donald Glover as Aaron Davis, Morales’ Uncle, the young Spider-Man hasn’t yet made his live-action debut. Nevertheless, several actors have been suggested as perfect for the role, with Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin being among the most popular. McLaughlin is depicted as Miles Morales in MCU art shared by TMY Arts.
This art proves that Caleb McLaughlin would be a strong choice to portray Miles Morales in the MCU, though it remains to be seen whether the wall-crawler will be introduced to Marvel Studios’ franchise.
Live-Action Miles Morales Is Great News For The MCU’s Secret Wars
Sony are developing a live-action film focused on Miles Morales’ Spider-Man, which may be perfect for Marvel Studios’ upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars.
Does Miles Morales Actually Make Sense For The MCU?
Tom Holland has portrayed the MCU’s Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, and has gone on to appear in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, and helm his own trilogy, comprising Homecoming, Far From Home and No Way Home. Holland’s first solo MCU trilogy marked the completion of his origin story in the MCU, which suggests there are many more Spider-Man stories to be told with the original Peter Parker. This perhaps implies that it may be far too soon for Miles Morales to make his MCU debut, though Holland’s next trilogy could introduce the new Spider-Man.
With 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home ending with Peter Parker being forgotten by everyone, he certainly needs some new allies in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4 and beyond, and Miles Morales could fit this role. Homecoming revealed that Miles Morales already exists, as Aaron Davis mentioned his nephew, though it was unclear how old the young Morales was at the time. Seven years later, there hasn’t been another mention of Miles Morales yet, but with transformative projects such as Avengers 5, Avengers: Secret Wars, Spider-Man 4 and Young Avengers on the cards, Miles Morales would still make sense for the MCU.
