Port Huron has welcomed a new tattoo shop to its downtown district.
The Parlour Tattoo & Art Gallery opened in August but is holding its grand opening in December. Owner Alicia Wallace has been a tattoo artist for approximately seven years. She said owning her own tattoo shop was something she’s always wanted to do.
The Parlour Tattoo & Art Gallery is located at 217 Huron Ave. It’s located in the previous location for Batch Made Beauty.
The grand opening and ribbon cutting will be on Dec. 1. Wallace said there will be raffle baskets with certificates for her business and other downtown businesses. Hot cocoa and kids’ activities will also be available.
Currently, the business is open Monday through Saturday by appointment only. People can make their appointments by emailing Wallace at aliciamtattoo@gmail.com.
Wallace said she likes to create a calming atmosphere for her clients. She said the process is catered to the client’s comfort.
“My focus is making clients as comfortable and relaxed as possible during the process,” she said.
As its name suggests, the business is also an art gallery. Wallace said she got her start as an artist by selling her artwork with local businesses. She said it was important to her to have a space for artists to have their work displayed. Additionally, the art is for sale and all profits go directly to the featured artist.
There will be a new artist displayed every month. For November, the featured artist is Tylar Jane.
“I wanted to give back, and it’s full circle to how I started,” she said.
Wallace said she enjoys being a part of downtown Port Huron, and she wants to be involved in the community. Her business will be participating in the Festival of Trees through McLaren. Additionally, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 25, The Parlour Tattoo & Art Gallery will be holding a fundraiser for KIDS in Distress Services.
All proceeds are being used to purchase gifts from children’s Christmas lists. Donations are welcome but The Parlour Tattoo & Art Gallery will also be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a gift basket filled with downtown business goodies.
