Patricia Mansell, Terry Marshall and Karin Schieber displaying work at Art 10 Gallery
This month and next, three artists will share the spotlight at a north Nanaimo gallery’s featured wall.
The work of Patricia Mansell, Terry Marshall and Karin Schieber will be on display at Art 10 Gallery in the group show Natural Elements, in reference to the materials that each use to create their work: slate, wood, silver and gold.
A release for the show noted that Mansell, who used slate from Port Renfrew as a background for acrylic paintings of Canadian wildlife, portrays endangered animals in her work as a desire to bring them to life in her art and raise awareness of how close they are to being lost.
Marshall’s interest in wood turning stems from the time a friend took a piece of wood of Marshall’s property that had fallen during a storm, and sent back to him a wooden bowl. Some of Marshall’s work has made it to people in Switzerland, China and all across Canada.
Schieber, a gold and silversmith trained in Germany, makes hand-crafted, one-of-a-kind jewelry, predominantly working with precious metals and stones, and any other media which inspires her.
Natural Elements will show at the Art 10 Gallery in Nanaimo North Town Centre during mall hours until the end of January.
