GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Hundreds of people filled the streets of downtown Grand Rapids Saturday, Sept. 16, where they gathered to see the varying forms of art represented in ArtPrize 2023.
Works ranged from “Evanescent” by Atelier Sisu, resembling giant bubbles for people to walk through, to “Resilient Nation” by Coua Lee, a live sand art performance.
“We have a lot of fun looking at all of the different masterpieces,” said Shelby Egolf, who traveled from Ann Arbor to Grand Rapids for the weekend. “Our favorite so far has been the bubbles.”
The 18-day international art competition in Grand Rapids features just under 700 entries on display at 150 venues and features $400,000 in prize money awarded based on public input and jurors’ favorites.
