Glen Powell gets imagined as the titular lead for Booster Gold through new fan art for James Gunn’s DC Universe. The new DC Universe is on its way, as the DCEU timeline is finishing its final year before Gunn and Peter Safran as the co-CEOs DC Studios help Warner Bros. Discovery get another shot at running a successful superhero continuity. Chapter 1, “Gods and Monsters,” has multiple DC Universe movies and TV shows being developed, with more projects still yet to be announced.
One of the DC heroes who is part of Gunn and Safran’s initial plans is Booster Gold, who will have his own TV show on Max. While as yet there’s been no news of any actor cast as Booster Gold, Powell has emerged as a big fan favorite casting as Subi Özil shared artwork of what he could look like as Michael Jon Carter.
Their version of Booster Gold’s costume is a combination of armor and leather, showing Powell as the futuristic hero who ends up going back in time to gain fame as a crime fighter. To this point, the Booster Gold TV series has yet to announce a show-runner or any attached writers.

James Gunn has teased several characters who were missing from the DC Universe Chapter 1 announcement, but they could fit into various projects.
How One DC Movie Has Already Set Up The Booster Gold TV Show
Even though Booster Gold is one of many confirmed DC Universe characters who may be a few years off before he shows up on screen, a recent DC movie may have already set his show up. Blue Beetle, which focused on the story of Jaime Reyes, revealed that Ted Kord, one of Booster Gold’s close allies from the comics, is actually still alive. At the end of Blue Beetle, a voice transmission is heard where it’s revealed that Ted is trapped somewhere.
Many have been theorizing that the Blue Beetle post-credits scene was a subtle setup for the Booster Gold TV show and that Ted is actually somewhere in the future. In an exclusive Screen Rant interview with Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto, he strongly hinted that Ted’s mysterious whereabouts may or may not be tied to the golden superhero. Soto, who has also had conversations with Gunn, where Booster Gold came up, shared that he “always liked the idea of him and Booster Gold doing adventures and then this message being sent as a warning of something that eventually Booster Gold is the one that’s able to bring Jaime into the mix, or tap Kord’s expertise through Booster’s time travelling powers.”
In 2011, Arrow’s Greg Berlanti, prior to the launch of the Arrowverse, was developing a Booster Gold TV show for Syfy that didn’t go forward before he was eyed to direct a solo movie that was announced in 2016.
The Booster Gold TV show would also be a fun way to get Xolo Maridueña’s young hero involved organically, while also setting up Michael’s famous dynamic with Ted. It will also be intriguing to see who DC Studios actually tap as Booster Gold. Hopefully, 2024 will have more news about the Booster Gold series sooner rather than later.
