What compels you to pause in front of a work of art?
In our latest UNIQLO ArtSpeaks, artist and educator José Camacho was intrigued at first by the lack of figurative features in Wilfredo Lam’s “Mother and Child.”
Camacho found that the ambiguity offered an opening for others to insert themselves into the artwork. “That’s what I like to explore in my art… shifting perspective so that those who don’t have power in our world are the ones that are seen as powerful.”
