Summary
- David Corenswet takes on the role of Superman in the upcoming “Superman: Legacy,” and fan art imagines him in a classic Superman suit with the hero’s signature hair curl.
- Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman carries a lot of weight as he becomes the new face of the DC Universe.
- “Superman: Legacy” boasts a star-studded cast, including Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, and aims to create a lived-in DC Universe with familiar characters.
Superman: Legacy star David Corenswet looks like he stepped right out of the comic books in a classic-style Superman fan art. Corenswet takes over from the DCEU’s Henry Cavill as the new Superman of the DC Universe, with the actor set to debut as the hero in DC’s Superman: Legacy. The reboot film for the Man of Steel will be the first movie of the DCU, which means a lot is riding on Corenswet’s portrayal of Superman.
On Twitter, @DCU_Updates shared their vision for what Corenswet could look like when he suits up as Superman: Legacy‘s lead hero.
The fan art gives Corenswet a bright, classic Superman suit. The star also sports the Man of Tomorrow’s signature hair curl, making the DCU actor look perfect as the new Superman. If Corenswet looks nearly as good as he does in the fan art when Superman: Legacy comes around, then fans of the hero will be in for a treat.
What We Know About Superman: Legacy
Corenswet’s casting as Clark Kent is far from the only exciting addition to Superman: Legacy‘s cast. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan plays the other lead of the movie, Lois Lane. The actors will be joined by a host of other DCU heroes, including Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.
Jimmy Olsen and Lex Luthor are also reportedly waiting to be cast after the SAG-AFTRA strike ends. The actor’s strike and the Writers Guild of America strike, the latter of which ended recently, caused Superman: Legacy‘s filming to be delayed. According to the new report, the DC Universe movie will no longer start filming in January as planned, instead opting for a Spring 2024 production start.
While Gunn is keeping the main story of Superman: Legacy close to the vest, some elements of the movie have been revealed by the director or through numerous reports. Corenswet’s Clark Kent will get help from Lois and Jimmy as he starts working at the Daily Planet. Superman: Legacy will not be an origin story, with Clark already being Superman for some time. The movie aims to make the DCU feel lived-in — hence all the other announced heroes — but Gunn has guaranteed that the focus remains on Superman and Lois. Following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike, whenever that might be, new Superman: Legacy details will be made public.
