ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood will see a busier visitor presence this weekend as Art on the Avenue returns.
Art on the Avenue, a large festival along Mount Vernon Avenue between Hume and Bellefonte Avenues, will be held Saturday, Oct. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The art festival promises over 350 local and regional artist vendors, live music, international food, children’s activities, a pie baking contest, and more.
Artists will be on site to offer a variety of art forms, from ceramics, pottery, glass and jewelry to painting, photography, bath and body products and much more. See a full list of vendors here.

The Colonel Arnald D. Gabriel Concert Band Stage at Mount Vernon Community School’s outdoor basketball court will have this schedule:

12 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.: NOVA Concert Band

The Kids Art Corner will keep children entertained with art activities like pumpkin painting, painting birdhouses, clay sculpting, making scarecrows and more. See a full list of activities here.
Aspiring bakers can join the pie-baking contest with judging in the youth and adult categories. Pies will be judged based on taste and texture of the filling and crust, and creativity of the pie name and appearance. Pie slices will be sold starting at 1:15 p.m. to benefit the Alexandria Domestic Violence Safehouse.

Street parking may be limited during the event. Free trolley transportation will be provided from the Potomac Yard and Braddock Road Metro stations.
