Today, April 25, marks the 10-year anniversary of the city of Flint’s decision to shift their water supply source from Lake Huron to the Flint River. This decision caused water distribution pipes to corrode, leaching lead and other contaminants in the drinking water. Ten years later, there are still lasting issues in Flint.
Artist LaToya Ruby Frazier visited the area in 2014, sparking a lifelong partnership with community members. Frazier teamed up with poets, activists, and mothers Shea Cobb and Amber Hasan, in addition to Moses West, who developed a machine that extracts water from the air to create fresh water. Together, they pursued innovative solutions to solving the crisis and advocate for justice.
